Cool Gai 67
Posted on: 18th September 2024

Over the years on Cool Gai, we have talked a lot about how brands try to one-up each other. But let’s take the more peaceful approach today, shall we?

Today, we want to talk about rival brands putting aside their differences and becoming frenemies for a change.

Why did the brands do that, we hear you ask? Well, there are plenty of reasons. To find out more, let’s dive in!

TOGETHER WE STAND

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we all got separated, but our spirits were united in the fight against the novel virus.

One of the best examples was how the cold beverage giants Coca-Cola and Pepsi came together along with other brands to help heal the world.

Companies like Unilever and P&G also collaborated to ensure the continued supply of essential goods during the pandemic. These brands also launched social campaigns to promote health and safety, donating products and supporting healthcare workers.

A DAY WITHOUT WHOPPER

“Why have lunch with a clown when you can dine with the King?”

That is the kind of stuff we are used to seeing.

So would you believe if we said Burger King stopped selling their famous Whopper for an entire day to support sales of McDonald’s?

Yes, in 2019, Burger King launched a campaign called “A Day Without Whopper” in Argentina, where they stopped selling their signature Whopper for a day to encourage customers to buy a Big Mac from McDonald’s.

The proceeds from Big Mac sales went to support children with cancer through the McHappy Day initiative.

A friendship between a king and a clown is truly beautiful to see.
